One Week Prior to Surgery:

Discontinue any medication that may thin your blood one week prior to surgery. These medications include, but are not limited to: Coumadin, Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Motrin), Naproxen (Aleve), Celebrex, Mobic (Meloxicam), Diclofenac and prescription pain medications that include Ibuprofen. Discontinue any herbal supplements or vitamins one week prior. You may take Tylenol if needed for pain up to the night before surgery. If you are taking Eliquis, Plavix, Warfarin or any other prescribed blood thinner please contact your cardiologist for their specific protocol on discontinuing these medications prior to surgery.

Night Before Surgery:

Do not eat or drink any liquids after midnight the night before your surgery.

Day of Surgery:

If you are taking medications on a daily basis, only take the medications that cannot wait till after your surgery. If you do need to take a medication prior to surgery, you will need to take it as early as you can with the least amount of water as possible. The nurses at your pre-admission testing appointment will go over which medications these are.

• No make-up, perfumes/cologne or underarm deodorants.
• No contact lenses the day of your surgery.
• Leave all jewelry at home, including rings and body piercing jewelry (including earrings).
• Wear clean, comfortable clothing.
• You will need to arrange for someone to drive you home from the hospital as they will not release you if you are driving yourself or taking a Taxi/Uber/TRPTA.
• Bring your insurance cards and photo identification to the hospital with you.

General Instructions Prior to Surgery:

If you develop a cold, persistent cough, fever or any other related health problems, please notify our office as soon as possible; we may need to move your surgery. If you need to cancel or move your surgery date please notify our office as soon as possible.
